Sean Jones

Trumpeter, composer, bandleader, and educator Sean Jones is known for his versatility and deeply expressive approach to jazz. A native of Warren, Ohio, he began playing trumpet at age 10 and went on to serve as lead trumpeter with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra from 2004 to 2010. He later joined the SFJAZZ Collective and has released eight recordings as a bandleader.

Free student clinics begin at 4:30 PM followed by the concert at 7:30 PM.  Student's and music educators must present a student/employee ID at entry with their ticket. 

General concert admission tickets are $40 + ticketing fees.

Career

Jones has performed and recorded with artists including Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Marcus Miller, Nancy Wilson, Dianne Reeves, and Gerald Wilson, and has appeared with several major symphony orchestras. An internationally recognized educator, he has held leadership positions at Berklee College of Music and Johns Hopkins University’s Peabody Institute and serves as Artistic Director of Carnegie Hall’s NYO Jazz.
