Born in Los Angeles in 1968, guitarist and composer Anthony Wilson is known for a body of work that moves fluidly across genres. The son of legendary jazz trumpeter and bandleader Gerald Wilson, his musical lineage has deeply shaped his distinctive approach to composition and performance.
Free student clinics begin at 4:30 PM followed by the concert at 7:30 PM. Student's and music educators must present a student/employee ID at entry with their ticket.
General concert admission tickets are $40 + ticketing fees.

Wilson’s debut album, Anthony Wilson (1997), earned a Grammy nomination for Best Large Ensemble Jazz Recording, launching a diverse recording career spanning large-ensemble jazz, organ trio recordings, Brazilian-influenced music, songwriting, and projects combining music and photography. His acclaimed Power of Nine (2006) was named one of the year’s top ten jazz albums by The New Yorker.
An inventive soloist and sensitive accompanist
Wilson has been a core member of Diana Krall’s quartet since 2001 and appeared on her Grammy-winning Live in Paris. He has performed and recorded with jazz greats including Charles Lloyd, Ron Carter, Bobby Hutcherson, and Joe Sample, while also collaborating with artists such as Paul McCartney, Willie Nelson, Aaron Neville, and Barbra Streisand.
Awards
Wilson received the Thelonious Monk Institute International Composers’ Award in 1995 and has received commissions from Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, and other leading arts organizations. He was named a MacDowell Fellow in 2018.
